Formaldehyde and VOC Removal
Formaldehyde and VOC Removal
Measure and Decide
Formaldehyde and VOC gases usually are emitted from the furniture, paints, wood works in new offices, homes and factories. These chemical gasses have varied reaction on individuals. Individual with respiratory conditions suffer most when these gases are present in the indoor environment.
In Singapore, code of practice for indoor air quality SS554 and SS553 for ventilation, provides guidelines for measuring and maintaining the levels of various indoor parameters. Reference to these guidelines, the suggested TVOC level should be < 1.0 ppm and for Formaldehyde the level should be < 0.08 ppm.
Usual symptoms for presence of these gasses in the indoor air conditioned environment are burning eyes, pungent or varied odor, headaches, irritation to skin for individuals who have sensitive skin conditions.
We strongly suggest that for every new office, home or facility a professional should measure the parameters and qualify the condition before using the facility.
Audit and Consulting
Measurement of TVOC & Formaldehyde
Our Consultants have vast experiences in audit and providing root cause for the presence of these gases. It is very important that a calibrated instrument be used for measurement as slight error in the instrument can mislead the outcome.
Accuracy in identifying the root cause is utmost important to resolve the issue. Our consultants can help you identify the issues and also help you advise on the precautions that you can take in the interim.
We use singlas accredited lab to test these gases on required basis and these testing and reports can be used for official submission to any authorities or agencies if required.
Follow standard process
We provide services that adhere to a tested process to remove these gasses from the internal fabrics, material and limit the exposure of the same to the occupiers.
Steps to improve the internal air quality.
1. Measure and identify the levels of contaminants.
2. Identify the root cause or materials that cause these issues.
3. Treat the identified material in proper environment conditions.
4. Post treatment insists on measurement after 1 week to identify the effectiveness of treatment.
Reach out to our consultants to ensure you eliminate the root causes before treating the materials.
Safety during remediation
Frequently ventilate the indoor environment while occupying the space with high contaminants in the air.
Use N95 masks or surgical masks when construction or paint works are in progress.
Do not use masking perfumes or candles or chemicals to reduce the odor. The harmful chemicals will still be in the air that you breathe.
Use of activated carbon improves the situation only if the contaminants are in small quantity. The activate carbon can absorb but are deactivated very easily within 1 -3 days if the indoor environment is not proper for use of activated carbon.
Call our consultants to ensure you are safe and healthy when you occupy new offices, fix new furniture, lay new carpets and paint the facilities.
